Autumn in the Northern Rockies 2020

Join us as we explore the Rockies as the season changes from summer to fall in northern Utah, eastern Idaho and western Wyoming. This tour is packed with amazing locations and designed to see a lot in 7 day/6 night timeframe. Fall is a great time to visit this part of the world as many of the crowds of summer have left and the scrub oak and aspen trees are starting to display their fall colors. Whether you have visited these sites before or not, this will be a unique trip.

Some of the scenic highlights on this journey include visits to two of the most iconic National Parks in the United States: Yellowstone and Grand Teton. These parks are known for their majestic beauty and unique geologic and geothermal features and the opportunity to see wildlife such as bison, moose and elk. We will also enjoy a night in the Park at the Mammoth Hot Springs Cabins.

In addition to the scenic beauty of the area, we will have the chance to visit several important historic sites such as the Golden Spike National Historic Site and This is the Place Heritage Park. At these sites we will have the opportunity to better understand some important events that helped shape the growth of the United States.

Our visit won’t only be to the wide-open spaces of this part of the United States. We will have time to explore growing and cosmopolitan Salt Lake City, the heart of the Wasatch Front. We will stay in Salt Lake where we will have access to places like the City Creek Center and Temple Square. Also on our itinerary is a night in charming Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We’ll have time to explore the boutiques, shopping and restaurants in the evening.

Also on our last full tour day, we will take a ride on the Snowbird Tram to 11,000ft Hidden Peak and enjoy lunch in the top of the Wasatch Mountains on the east side of the Salt Lake Valley. Then we will move to the west side of the Salt Lake Valley and see the amazing Rio Tinto/Kennecott open pit mine which is one of the world’s largest open pit mines. Then we return to the our Salt Lake hotel for our final night. In the morning we get you to the airport so you can catch your flight back home full of memories of a great adventure.

- Tour Cost: $1,295 per person
- Single Traveler Supplement*: $595 per person

Prices are in US Dollars based upon double occupancy unless otherwise noted. .

*Single rooms are subject to availability. We try to accommodate travelers who request single accommodations. If you are a single traveler and are interested in sharing a room with another single traveler, we will facilitate an introduction between fellow single travelers with your permission. It will be up to you to make arrangements for double occupancy with other travelers. Once both parties agree in writing, then pricing will be changed. If a single room is requested, or if you are unable to find a suitable roommate, you will be required to pay the supplement.

Autumn in the Northern Rockies 2020 Itinerary

Day 1 (8 October 2020)

Arrive Salt Lake City (SLC) Met at airport by 4pm. Attend a Tabernacle Choir rehearsal in the historic Salt Lake Tabernacle on Temple Square. We will meet in the evening for dinner and our Tour Welcome and Reception. Transfer to hotel in Logan.

Day 2 (9 October 2020)

Enjoy morning and breakfast in Logan. A full day of travel and sights for today. We start with a visit to Golden Spike National Historic Monument where the transcontinental railroad was completed in 1869. Next stop is the 'Niagra Falls of the West' at Shoshone Falls on the Snake River near Twin Falls, Idaho. The rest of the day we will make our way to our hotel in Rexburg, ID. Along the way we have a chance to see the geologic features at Craters of the Moon National Monument. Additionally we will pass through Arco, the first city to be powered by nuclear power and across the Snake River Valley.

Day 3 (10 October 2020)

Morning and breakfast in Rexburg, Idaho, then to make our way into Yellowstone National Park. We will enter the park through West Yellowstone, Montana and head to see Old Faithful and the geyser basins around it. Then we travel north to explore the formations at Mammoth Hot Springs and check into our hotel for the night.

Day 4 (11 October 2020)

We get an early start today to visit more spots in Yellowstone including along the Yellowstone River and Upper and Lower Yellowstone Falls and a walk to Inspiration Point. We continue our exploration of the Park passing Yellowstone Lake and other sites. Our journey south takes us out of Yellowstone and into Grand Teton National Park. We will get up-close to the Tetons with a moderate hike around Jenny Lake with waterfalls and amazing vistas. After an afternoon in the Tetons, we head to the charming town of Jackson, Wyoming for an evening meal and wandering the streets or relaxing at the hotel.

Day 5 (12 October 2020)

Today we make our way back to Salt Lake City from Jackson. We will pass through canyons and mountain valleys like picturesque Star Valley, Wyoming. Also along our path is the beautiful blue waters of Bear Lake which straddles the Utah-Idaho border. Then on to an evening in Salt Lake City.

Day 6 (13 October 2020)

Last tour day will be hitting the highlights in the Salt Lake area. In the morning a visit to Temple Square and This is the Place Heritage Park in the morning to learn about the history of the settlement of Utah and the Intermountain West. We will travel up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Alta and a ride on the Snowbird Scenic Tram to 11,000ft Hidden Peak for amazing views and lunch. End the day with a visit to Rio Tinto Mine one of the world’s largest open pit copper mines.

Day 7 (14 October 2020)

Tour ends this morning with transfers to Salt Lake City airport (SLC)
