G eographic Journeys Tours came from a love of understanding the world around me. Since my early days I was always interested in landscapes and places. Going on family road trips I was always looking out the window and wondering about what I was seeing. Maps fascinated me. I loved looking at them and imaging what places actually looked like.

During my college years I had the opportunity to live overseas in Australia and Papua New Guinea. This is where I became interested in the cultural aspects of the world as much as I had the physical aspects of the world.

The combination of these two loves merged into a formal study of Geography in university. In graduate studies, I learned the skills of cartography and the newly emerging field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). After completing my Masters degree in 2000, I began teaching various introductory geography courses at local colleges and universities.

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, my parents were hosts to many visitors, both family and friends. We would often take those visiting to see the sights of San Francisco and other places around northern California. My parents were also good about taking us children to explore places as well. This helped nurture my interest in exploring places.

When I returned to live in the Bay Area in 2005, I continued the tradition of hosting friends and family when they visited the area and enjoyed taking them around to see a truly beautiful part of the world. This eventually started to turn into taking friends of my friends and family on local tours. Which then started me on the path to providing tours on a more formal basis. And that is why you are here reading this.

I invite you to join me as we explore the amazing planet that we call home and meet the rest of our human family
